Eddie, how horrifically difficult it must be to try to be what you aren’t. I have a friend who holds a PhD, teaches at a college, served in the Marines in Viet Nam, author of several hiking books, very accomplished long-distance hiker, formerly married who has transitioned to a woman in the last few years. When I review what I know of her life, it seems apparent that she tried her best to be hyper-masculine., but finally chose to be her true self. So sad that she could not be who she was from the beginning.

Joan- What a life your friend has had. So much incredible accomplishments despite how she was feeling inside. Much the same as Bruce Jenner. I’ve said it over and over; A secret life is a sad life. I’m happy to have had the opportunity to be educated and embrace that which I didn’t always understand. Bravo to your brave friend for choosing her personal truth!!!

Such sadness , depression & rejection that they have to fight to become who they are meant to be.

Eliza- I recall what I though was a lesbian many years ago who used to perform in drag shows. She called herself Mr. Buddy and loved performing Charlie Rich. My how I wish I’d been educated and been able to shake his hand and tell him great job.
Thank you for reading my Farm Stories!!!

I can’t even begin to imagine how you or Bruce Jenner or any of those people feel–but I just remember my faith and know that if God leads you to it — he will see you through it! Just stay positive– life is way too short to be negative all the time! Love you as always!!xoxo

Kathy- My true relationship with God started on the day I was able to forgive myself for the hurt I’d caused others by living a false life.
Walking in the light isn’t always easy but so glorious once your in it.
    Love you

As a child, I always looked forward to sitting in a chair at Klein’s, waiting to see what new picture of Cher was going to staring back at me, as you worked your magic on my seven year old head……I knew then as I do now, that you were wonderful and fabulous.

It hurts my soul to know that someone has had to wait decades to express who they really are. There should never be a choice of suicide and being who you are inside and out. Bruce sheared his story, his journey and I pray he lives his life out loud, so that those who are suffering can truly be who they are meant to be….. Fabulous!

Somer- You have touched me beyond. I remember that little girl and that hairdresser who had only just started ‘Living his life out loud!’
Thank you for your beautiful words and heart!
    Love you!!!

I knew from a young age that my oldest daughter was more than just a “tomboy”. Having seen the heartache my best friend went through growing up, the rejection of her family and others close to her, I allowed my daughter to be herself and chose her own path. My family gave her the strength and acceptance to be herself. She is now a 19 year old well adjusted college student with a beautiful girlfriend, a good job and a positive attitude. Lennon and McCartney were right, all you need is love.

Kristi- I’m so truly moved by your words and heart. As you know not every child has a parent who see’s who they are, allows them to follow their own path and then celebrates them for who they have become. What a gift! Thank you so very much for sharing your feelings, voice and reading Farm Stories. It truly means so much to me!

Kudos to Caitlyn!!! I truly believe her transformation in a public, nearly every step televised way, will open so many peoples eyes to the fact that we aren’t all born with a mind that goes with our body. She is gorgeous and seems to be so happy and FINALLY, after nearly 65 years, is where she has wanted to be all her life. Kudos to you and Jeff, but especially you for putting in writing, for all the world to read how you struggled all your young life trying to be who you weren’t inside. Farm Stories, Caitlyn and so many states now allowing same sex marriage, and many other people letting naysayers know that LGBT is here to stay and no longer have to hide behind closed doors. I’m so happy for anyone who can be themselves. So very proud and happy for you and love you and Farm Stories so very much. Let’s get this book on the shelves!!! XOXO 🙂

Kathy- A secret life is a sad life. Everyone should be able to celebrate who they are and who they love.
