Nailed it once again. Although I was reading every word you wrote, they were bringing back memories of my Mom. She was the best friend I have ever had and will ever have. Being an only child, I did whatever she was doing…that’s what I attribute my OCD to. LOL!! She was a perfectionist to and always said, and now I do to, “If I can’t do it right, I’m not going to do it at all.”.. You are so fortunate to still have her. She is and always has been a beautiful woman and I can understand why she was your first girlfriend and it was obvious ,even to me, when you were together the bond you had and how precious you were to her. Make the most of EVERY chance you have to be with her and talk to her EVERY day, even if you are busy and only have time to see how she is and tell each other how much you love her and how thankful God gave her to you for a Mother. You can’t imagine how much it means just to hear your son’s voice and how it can brighten her day……..and you will NEVER regret it. Beautifully written my friend. HUGE hug!! XOXO <3 🙂

Awesome story Eddie, I am now wishing I had yeast rolls & I could hear you sing once more. Does your Mom still live in Pike County? I am happy at least one of your parents was proud of you, I am sure this was heartbreaking for you, that you felt your father was ashamed of you. Just be proud of yourself & the accomplishments you have gained in your lifetime.& keeping writing awesome stories!!!!

I read this piece 10 or so times. I also have my iTunes playing in the background and while I read these were the songs that played “Beautiful” by Gordon Lightfoot, “Photographs & Memories” by Jim Croce and “Besame Mucho” by Andrea Bocelli. All fitting tunes to accompany this stunning piece of writing. You take me along on your journey and I feel many times that I was standing beside you and living it with you.

Your writing this piece took me back to the days when mom and I would sit in the living room with Tommy “Snuff” Garrett and his 50 Guitars. Usually on Sunday’s. A beef roast was in the oven, apple pie cooling on the counter and the veggies prepped and ready to go. It was now our time to relax and to embrace the moment. The memory is strong and ever so dear to me. Beyond blessed to have such special moms. They love us, unconditionally.

Thank you Eddie for bring another slice of your life to us. I await the next addition.

xoxo

Sunday mornings and our Sunday best. What memories 🙂 We had regular clothes and “church clothes”. Spring meant a new Easter dress, new shoes and wearing our white gloves. Which were so hard to keep clean. I remember all of the women always looking just so so and wearing the special hats. I have a few of my grandmothers. Your stories always bring back special memories. ♡♡♡

Susan- Without doubt- Magical and precious moment in time. You knew you were going to something really special if you wore your ‘church clothes’ someplace besides church. White gloves, hats and black patent leather shoes!!! Fabulous!!!

Nothing makes me happier than knowing my memory helps uncover your own. Thank you so much for reading Farm Stories!!!
