Her photography often addressed social issues that included homelessness, prostitution, drug addiction and mental illness. Her work many times left you sad but always thinking. Especially shots which included children and how she captured their heartbreaking lives. Her photography told a story. No matter her subject her style was immediately recognizable.

Mary Ellen Mark was an incredible photographer who will be missed but never forgotten.

Eddie – the purpose of ones blog is share their story and you have certainly done this with great eloquence. Another factor of your story is those who have inspired you on your journey. From artisans, photographers, painters and so many with creative talents. “He who seeks beauty shall find it”, come to mind each time I open up your “my favorites”. Tonight I learned of a new name Mary Ellen Mark and I thank you for the introduction. I’ve spent the last few hours being captivated by her photography and by her story. May she rest in peace.

Bruce- I’m so thrilled through Farm Stories and me you have discovered the magnificent Mary Ellen Mark. Her work, though sometimes difficult to comprehend always made you think and feel. Her style was her own and you knew it was her art before reading the credit. You’ll be happy to know she shot some of the beautiful promo shots for Silkwood.
