cleaning out the INSIDE of the washer… wow. I would have feared this woman. R.E.S.P.E.C.T.
LJB- Yes, the inside… We laughed about it for years… Thank you for reading….
Great story.
Donna- Appreciate your continued support and voice so much!!! Have a blessed holiday!!!
Eddie, you possess what I call a “fresh voice.”. Unique, crisp and personal, your timing and imagery are precise. Your talent as a make-up artist appears to spill over onto the page. At times my heart aches and I want to cry, yet you wrap your experience up and hand it to us as a gift. And I know you are more than okay. Thank you for sharing.
Marty- Having the voice and support from someone I know and admire since way back in the day is not only overwhelming but a blessing. Thank you so very much. You always were and continue to be the best!!! xoxo
I enjoyed this story too! I am always happy when I see that you have added another story to read! xoxo
Cindy- Your continued reading and support truly mean so much to me!!! Thank you!!! xoxoxo
I have seen this before and is still one of my favorites..xoxo
Thank you MonaBaby!!! Happy Thanksgiving!!! xoox
I would have to read this at least 3 more times (and I will) to pick up all the nuances but for right now I want to say..LOVE you and your ability to paint pictures. My mother-in-law is well recognized as being difficult, unlike Margaret, but we have had a great relationship. Maybe cause I wipe the inside and outside of the washer 🙂
Rhonda- Thanks so much for reading and sharing your voice with Farm Stories. Love you!!!
I’m with Mona. This is by far one of my favorites. Mom in-laws, although I didn’t have the opportunity to know mine as well as I would have liked she left a mark on me like no other. I too see where Nathan received his gentleness from, his laughter, his love of animals and so much more. It was great to see a mom and son be together. I would love when Nathan got off the phone chatting with her, his smile was a mile wide for days later. I’ll never look at the inside of a washing machine the same way again Eddie…thank you for postings all these wonderful stories. We are beyond blessed to know you.
xoxo b&n and sunny too!
Bruce- Much to be grateful to our Mother in-laws about!!! It’s the little things that you end up remembering and cherish!!! Happy Holiday!!! Love to all… xoxo
What a great tribute to Margaret. She and Jeff had a special relationship that I’m sure he misses terribly. That’s where memories are so cherished. I really loved this blog— it just keeps getting better!! Love and glitter always!!

Your words are special-I don’t have that easy special relationship you and Margaret shared with my mother in law. I knew Margaret (she was my first boss) and its so nice to hear about your relationship with her. She was a wonderful lady…
Kate- Thank you for sharing your sweet memory of Margaret. She was a special girl and is so missed, Thank you for reading Farm Stories!!!!
You have yet to disappoint me with your blogs. They touch my heart and soul. They make me think of how I could better myself. I DO know what I am going to say to my Daughter-in-Law on Thanksgiving Day. I Love you!!! Happy Thanksgiving and life to you, Jeff and the girls!! XOXO
Kathy- Thank you so much for your support, heart and love!!! Have a blessed Thanksgiving!!! Toss Glitter!!!! Love you…. xoxo
I loved that story Eddie. I look across the street and I have wonderful memories of Margaret and Dick. I miss them so much. Keeping writing I will read them all. To you & Jeff have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Love Laura xoxoxo
Laura- I certainly don’t have to tell you how the last couple of years have brought so much loss and change. Hope your okay. Finding a new normal is a challenge. Margaret loved you so very much and Jeff took great comfort knowing you were just across the street. We are forever grateful. Have a blessed holiday…. Much love Eddie xoxo
Eddie, After reading the manuscript of your book, I can only say, you never cease to amaze me! It was so well written, interesting, sad(I cried) and leaves the reader wanting more! You have always had a sensitive, kind loving heart and a beautiful way of expressing yourself. You spread lots of Glitter (love and happiness) every day. I feel blessed. As always, I love you and am proud of all your accomplishments…Mom xoxo
Mom- Writing a memoir is both exhilarating and terrifying. Putting it all out there. It’s certainly unnerving letting those you love read. I’m so happy you were moved by my manuscript and blessed with your support not only for Coming Out Of Indiana but in life. It’s the best Toss Glitter I could ever ask for!!!! Love you!!!
xoxoox

Loved this one!
Terenda- Thank you for reading and supporting!!! xoxo
I’d never really thought about the in-laws thing in a relationship like yours, which might or might not be openly discussed or accepted across the emotional intricacies of family. And yet, those of us who have not had to fight for the basic human right to be married to the person we love perhaps easily overlook related details. It just seems so simple: everyone should have the right to marry or not to marry, and to take (or decline to take) whatever degree of dysfunction might come along with the package.
Clearly she was an amazing mother to Jeff, and grew in her own way into an amazing mother-in-law to you. The vagaries of the long-married (or whatever term or state of connectedness might have stood in for that) are only understood by those who’ve been long-married. Commitment, authenticity, love…with whatever dose of dysfunction passes for normal in your family…these look different – and in many ways much more beautiful – when viewed through the prism of time. Keep writing, my dear friend. I am moved, delighted, enlightened and inspired!
Angie- Thank you so much for your wonderful comments. Margaret and I shared the feeling before we had a name to label it with. And of course makes you realize it’s the feeling thats important. The feeling that lives on. Thank you for reading, supporting and adding your voice to Farm Stories.
