Wow! I can tell this is one of those books that is impossible to put down. Can’t wait to own one.
One never knows the demons others wrestle with every day. I could picture it as I read (except for the color of the Gremlin) lol!
What color was it?

Sheli- Your support means so much to me! Thank you for reading Farm Stories! The Gremlin was orange and quite colorful with the contrast of Mt. Dew empties rolling round the back!!! xoxo

Oh our Gremlins! I, too, had a Gremlin. It was a 1974 Emerald green with the white stripes, but mine had stars that were hand painted on the back. I would tape them babies up about every 6 months and re-paint them! That was my baby and she was killed in a wreck in Washington. Lisa Ingersoll-Coffman and I had just left the 3-D store and a drunk hit us and rammed us into a telephone pole. He managed to damage 3 sides of my baby, Lisa & I were ok. Just one question, Which Holiday Inn did you work at? Love reading all your blogs, keep up the great work!

November 13, 2014 at 7:53 pm

Jolene- Those Gremlins had a life of their own. Mine was orange with the big hatchback. Getting hit by a drunk is scary stuff. I worked at the Holiday Inn in Jasper. Back in the late 70’s. Many lifetimes ago. Thank you for reading and adding your voice to Farm Stories. It means so much to me!!!

I am devastated at your intense hurt. I wish I could have been there to help…..I would have tried in ANY way I could. I Love you so much and do understand that desperate people do desperate things….I have been there, but of course not in the same way. I feel that way now, at times, that my health has gotten so bad. I know that
it turns out great, but can’t wait to hear the rest. Great writing and read. XOXO

Kathy- A difficult time. All the walls started coming down exposing all those different Eddie’s. Finding the authentic one was a challenge. Dark days for myself and many who had done nothing more than love me. It’s truly humbling that I can share those days and folks can feel something for them. What a loyal, loving force you are. Tossing Glitter’ and Love to YOU. Thank you for your support and voice….

Without even discussing the topic of this post, the comments from your readers meet with my own thoughts and push me to ask about logistics. Which is totally NONE of my business and you can totally ignore or actively blow off if you want…. 🙂 But if you choose to answer, or to talk about it in more detail, I’m so interested in the mechanics of execution. Are you piecing the recollections together, as they come to you, or did you begin with something more structured, even if just in your mind, something like an outline? Some plan for sharing, like a roughly chronological order? Very interested in however much of this you’re willing to share, since I think you know my own blog is much more a random collection (though you’ve framed yours as a memoir, so they’re different from the starting point, of course).

The topic: Good lord, Eddie – does the grownup you ever want to just go back in time and space, pick up that suffering, lost self and just wrap him in a hug? I know that’s happened for you through love and forgiveness and love (and did I mention “love”?) as an adult, so perhaps it doesn’t cry out as loudly as it once did, but I AM curious…and of course all may be clear to me as you unveil your story with your own pace and voice (which just gets better and better, BTW). I’ll be patient.

Finally one technical detail: can you get your tech team to allow (or tell me how to set up – it could be me (!)) an alert at a site level, rather than a post-level? Right now I can request alerts on comments following my own on each specific post, but I would LOVE to know when you post, AND when your followers/readers add comments. Both are incredibly illuminating.

As ever, humbled and honored to be reading (because THAT in itself is an honor) AND able to speak to you as you go (because THAT is like reviewing a great memoir, one breathtaking post -and indeed sometimes one paragraph or sentence or even phrase! – at a time).
Love, love, love.

Angie- Thank you for reading, sharing your voice and interest. It’s truly overwhelming.

After finishing my manuscript and learning I needed to have a website and blog to help build interest I decided to approach the project in the same manner as I told these Farm Stories initially. Which was from my chair when doing someones hair, they would ask for me to share a Farm Story. Somehow to me this way felt honest. Because I think of myself as a storyteller much more than a writer. Though I have shared just bits and pieces of these stories over the past twenty seven years it’s given me a lot of time to remember detail. Also because I love photography so much I also wanted to share my friend’s photos either with a piece I’d written or as a Toss Glitter’ piece on it’s own. When I go to post a piece I think of myself being with someone asking to tell them a farm story. ‘Shafted’ is an excerpt from the manuscript so of course there is a much bigger story. My actual manuscript doesn’t jump around in this manner. After the New Year I’ll slow down on the posts as you know writing these pieces are difficult and draining. But I wanted to start out with a BANG!!!

When I talk about Eddie sometimes forgetting that it’s me. I always want to tell him hold on a little longer- happiness is just around the corner. But then sometimes I reread something and think WOW he’s Tossing Glitter’ in spite of whats just happened.

I’m not sure if any of that answers your question? The technical I’m going to ask Jeff.
Again thank you so much!!!! I love reading your reactions and feelings!!! Gives me hope that I truly might have something of interest here!!!!
Love xoxoox
